InsyaAllah, on February 14 2024, Indonesia will hold a presidential election which is held every 5 years to find a new leader for Indonesia. In this election, 3 pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates will compete, with one of the presidential candidates is Anies Rasyid Baswedan Ph.D. Previously, Anies Baswedan was chancellor of Paramadina University, where he was known as the youngest chancellor in Indonesia at that time. He was then appointed as the Minister of Education during President Jokowi's first administration, and most recently served as Governor of Jakarta where he received many national and international awards.
Anies Rasyid Baswedan PHd is the first Hadrami Arab descendant to take part in the presidential contest in Indonesia. His grandfather, Abdul Rahman Baswedan or better known as AR Baswedan, was one of Indonesia's national heroes. His father, Rasyid Baswedan, is a lecturer at the Indonesian Islamic University in Yogyakarta, while his mother, Prof. Aliyah Ganis, is a lecturer at the Indonesian Vocational and Educational Institute in Yogyakarta.
In this current presidential election, Anies Baswedan is accompanied by Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, also the grandson of one of Indonesia's national heroes and one of the founders of the Nahdlatul Ulama organization, the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia. Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar is the chairman of Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB - National Awakening Party), one of the Islamic parties that supports this couple, besides other main Islamic-based parties such as Nasional Demokrat (National Democratic, nationalist), Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS - Prosperous Justice Party) and Partai Ummat (Ummat Party).
One of the programs that Anies - Muhaimin couple (abbreviated as AMIN) bring is justice and equality for all Indonesian citizens and fighting for Palestine as an independent country, free from Israeli colonialism.
As supporters of the AMIN couple, we hope that our brothers and sisters of Hadrami descendan everywhere will join in praying, raising their hands, looking up to Allah Subhanahu wataala, either in congregation at mosques or alone at home, for the victory and success of Anies Rasyid Baswedan as President of the Republic of Indonesia .
